From a young age Gordon “David” Holland has been fascinated with music and audio. The earliest remembered stories start with Emma Samson Middle School Band, and the search for his perfect mix continued throughout his life. He joined the US Navy and played guitar in the boot camp choir but soon became an Aviation Electrician’s Mate where he learned electronics and power systems. Stationed at a C-130 squadron based in Naval Air Station North Island San Diego, CA, he also continued to play music when and where he could.
After the Navy there were a few jobs, he talked about frequently though the details were fuzzy revolving in some way around audio and electrical engineering - telecommunications, gas & oil in Shreveport, LA major ones. And, still playing music and recording whenever he could.
He relocated to Huntsville, AL for further engineering as well as playing and producing music. He worked at music repair shops, custom guitar amplifiers, and then worked on various engineering projects for NASA and other federal agencies during his time there, eventually he started a new company for recording studio and live performance equipment - Hear Technologies. This was huge for him, and he was very excited to finally have his work and passion mix in such a solid and profound way.
Throughout his life, there’s countless great stories of great singers, players of all sorts of instruments, huge producers and engineers he knew from playing with them, working with them, or chance encounters. He had a huge rolodex in his head of everyone, from people in the crowds when he was playing or who he was listening with in the crowd. He loved music, he loved playing his guitar, and he loved performing. For all of his faults - which most, including himself would readily admit - the thing he would have been proudest of is playing his guitar, singing the blues, and connecting the music and moving people’s souls when he could. This is pure conjecture, but if he had a parting message of wisdom it would be: Follow your passions and damn the consequences.
