Irene was a member of the VFW 8600 Aux – DAR Gadsden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvis Garretson; and son, Gary Garretson.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Dean) Johnson; daughter in law, Diane Smith; sister, Jean (Darrell) Childress; brothers, James (Janieth) Hill, Jimmy (Susan) Hill, J.L. (Delores) Hill; grandchildren, Christy Pruett, Steven (Karey) Johhnson, Katie Garretson, Julie (Erin) Garretson, Jason (Elizabeth) Smith, Wanda (Perry) Gulledge, Michael (Melissa) Johnson, and Anna (Curtis) Johnson; great grandchildren, Reagan Johnson and Ridge Johnson.
