Janice Dian Harbin Wade was born July 8, 1946. She attended Emma Sansom High School, class of 1964, and Gadsden Business College. She was a bookkeeper, recovery accounts manager, tax accountant and retired from the Etowah County Courthouse. Mrs. Wade and her husband owned “The Telephone Man” for many years in Gadsden, AL. At that time they sold unique, specialty, and designer telephones from their store on Broad Street and installed phone systems for commercial businesses. She began working at the age of 15 and had the honor to work with many different companies during her life. As a young mother, she attended the Church of the Nazarene and later Fairview Baptist Church. One of the things that she was most proud of was being a Girl Scouts of America Troop leader for the Noccalula Falls Girl Scouts Troop for 2 years. As a child she was also a member of the Girl Scouts of America. She was an avid reader and enjoyed many different genres and authors. Her favorite things to do were play Scrabble with her sister and to go to the casino. She enjoyed being out on the river in her pontoon boat, and playing card games, board games, and trivia. Mrs. Wade was highly intelligent and believed that being productive and having a purpose was of the utmost importance to feeling good about yourself. To her extended family she was known as “Aunt Janie” and to her grandchildren and their friends she was known as “Nana.” Mrs. Wade had a big heart and was always willing to lend help to anyone in need and often opened her home to them. She left behind a legacy of unconditional love and a willingness to accept and help others.
