Joan Jordan Hessenbruch

Mrs. Joan Jordan Hessenbruch, age 87, of Attalla, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2021. “Joanie” as her family called her, is survived by her three children, Craig (Pam) Hessenbruch, Lynn (Lee) Cox, and Jacque (Tom) Steede, and her brother, Paul (Maxine) Jordan. She was blessed with 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren.

Joan worked as a civilian transportation officer at Ft. McClellan in Anniston, Alabama for many years. In her later years she was a private sitter for several elderly women in her north Alabama community. She will always be remembered for her charitable Christian nature, creative spirit that showed through her ceramics and fondly by her family, as “the best cook in the whole world”. She is now with her late husband Bob and late best friend, Mary Ann, and in the words of her family “Heaven has their hands full now”.

Private interment will be held at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude and love to the staff of Oak Landing Assisted Living, Kindred Hospice, ABC Hospice and Peace in the Valley Assisted Living. Their love and diligent care greatly contributed to her long quality of life. A private memorial will be held by the family at a later date.
