

John J. Griffey went to be with his Lord Jesus on January 25, 2018. John was 49 years old and had been sick for an extended time. He was born in Atlanta, GA but spent most of his life in Cherokee, Lincoln, and Attalla, AL. He was an Army Veteran having served in South Korea and Richmond, VA. He loved Alabama Football, Nascar, working on his truck, and going to Army Surplus stores with his mother.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy D. Griffey; his grandparents, J.D. and Helen Dunn, and John and Ruby Griffey; and his grandson, Colt Norris.
He is survived by his daughter, Katieland Griffey, grandson, Lucas Carter Altwipe of Attalla, and Madison Gray of Attalla; grandson, Ty Crump of Attalla; sisters, Susan Carroll, and Betty Gray of Attalla; mother, Barbara Shirley of Attalla; nieces, Vonda Michelle (Jeremy) Mathews and Sue (D.J.) Clanton of Boaz; nephews, Jamie (Brittany) Gray of Gadsden, and Danny (Erika) Gray of Attalla; great nephews, Cameron Gray, Carson Gray and special great nephew Conner Gray who was his “Cruising and Jamming Buddy”, of Attalla; Donnie Wagnon of Boaz, Dakota Clanton of Boaz, Gaige Clanton and Blake Clanton of Boaz; great niece, Crimson Gray of Attalla, special best friend Harvey Patterson of Attalla and Richard Griffey special uncle of Montgomery, AL and many cousins , aunts, uncles, and “Baby” his cat, his favorite companion.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Graveside Service will be held at Eastaboga Baptist Church Cemetery Tuesday January 30th at 1p.m.
