

Larry retired from the United States Army after 20 years. He is a veteran of the Vietnam War. For his service he earned a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star along with many other medals. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 637.
After retirement from the Army he became an electrician. He also worked at Goodyear. His nickname was “Sarge”. He worked for the Craft family for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Dan Payne and his sister, Kathren Ashley and her husband, Rev. Don Ashley, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Fred and Wanda Moring, a special nephew, Darren Payne and his mother-in-law, Pearl Moring.
He is survived by his wife Judy Moring Payne of 27 years, his daughter, Leigh Dunn and her husband, Brett Dunn, his grandchildren, Aiden and Jaxon Dunn, daughters Stephanie Bonner and Heather McDermott and his grandson, Aden McDermott. He is also survived by his sister, Tammie Abernathy and fiancé, Jan Day-Legere, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ted and Dot Moring and Linda and Johnny Bailey, special friends, Jimmy Payne and Bobby Reynolds, a host of nieces, nephews and extended family that he enjoyed being around.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 12:30 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. followed by Chapel Service at 2:00 P.M. Larry will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery. Rev. Don Colvin will officiate the service.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Summerhill, David Krauthamer, Adam Green, Bryan Payne, Tim Bailey, Macen Bailey and Chad Crow.
