

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 2021, at Morgan Funeral Chapel for “Les” Leslie Charles Overstreet, Jr., 86, of Gadsden, Alabama. Body will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral. The Rev. Jerry Overstreet, and the Rev. Nathan Glenn will officiate. Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery, Reece City. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5-7 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel, Attalla, AL. Morgan Funeral Chapel is in charge of services.
Les left this world on May 18, 2021 and stepped into paradise to be with the Lord eternally. He was born November 29, 1934, in Wayne County, Mississippi to Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Charles Overstreet, Sr. and he was the fourth of six children. Les loved his family and friends and was surrounded by his immediate family at the time of his departure to eternity. Les had a great talent for singing and music. He sang in professional groups: The Noblemen and The Overstreet Family where his 3 sons sang and toured regionally. He sang in a band when he served in the Navy during 1958-1962. He played guitar and piano as well. He won the National Senior Soloist for the Church of God in 2003. He served and loved his country, and we are honored to call him a veteran. He was awarded the company honor man in his graduating class of the Navy. He was an excellent football and basketball player in high school.
Les was a salesman extraordinaire for over 30 years for Otasco, Heilig-Meyers, and Farmers Furniture. He was an avid gardener/farmer.
Les was most proud of serving his Lord Jesus Christ as a minister and evangelist for over 40 years.
He loved his church family from Noccalula Church of God and had many special friends. Les was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Virginia “Jenny” Elizabeth Overstreet, parents, L.C. and Mae Ollie Overstreet, brother Mack Overstreet, sisters, Deniece Jordan, Jean Hardigree, Opal Douglass, nephews Gil Douglass and Russ Douglass. He is survived by his sons, Charles (Deborah), Jeff (Freeda) and Ashley (Dewana); granddaughters, Summer Jones (Andrew), Lauren Overstreet, and Maegan Morello (Matt), Amanda and Shea Spray; grandsons, Kevin (Brittany), Zachary and Jacob; great-grandson, Tristen; Jayden, Landon, Canaan, Gunner, Emerson, Zander, Landon, Ryan, Brother, Jerry (Brenda) Overstreet and many nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be grandsons Kevin, Zachary, and Jacob and Andrew Jones; friends Dennis Morgan, Patrick Brown, and James Norton. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Cole, Jamie Nance, John Oliver and King Daughdrill. Special thanks to special friends, hospice nurse Stephanie Faulkner of SouthernCare New Beacon Hospice, Nurse LeeAnna Rodgers, Gadsden Regional Medical Center, Dr Akisanya, Norma and Pam and all the staff of Magnolia Gardens Assisted Living in Rainbow City.
