

Linda I.V. Vaughn Copus, age 79 of Ashville, Alabama passed away on Friday, June 10, 2022. Linda was born September 7, 1942 in Trion, Georgia, and was the second of nine children to Ellis “Red” Vaughn and I.V. Teal Vaughn.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents; her dear husband, Robert Louis Copus, Sr.; her beloved daughter, Tracey Copus; older brother, Kenneth Vaughn; sisters, Sandra Oldfield and Mary McAulliffe; and her adored Aunt Dene Teal.
Survivors include: Landon Copus (his wife Toni) and great grandchildren Ruby and Anderson; Linda’s twin daughters Lori Todd (Denver, CO) and Lynne I.V. Maylen (Mike) of Greeley, CO; son Jeff Todd (Boaz, AL) and grandchildren Jeffrey Todd, Haley Todd Underwood (Joseph) and great granddaughter Sadie Garmany; and Hope Todd and great grandson Bentley Todd; sisters, Diane Spears, Donna Wilson, Barbara Vaughn, Judy Loggins (Ken); brother, Kim Vaughn (Vicky); brother in law, Chuck McAulliffe; sister-in-law Linda Vaughn; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Linda loved being a Mom to her four children and her grand”son” Landon. Linda’s heart was the happiest when she was with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Linda loved the ocean and enjoyed flowers, gardening, sewing, baking and spending time with loved ones. She devoted a lot of time to studying genealogy. Linda also had a lengthy, professional career. In the 1960s, she worked at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL. In the 1970s, she worked at Republic Steel in Gadsden, AL. During the 1980s, she began her career with the United States Government and worked with the Social Security Administration in Birmingham, AL and in 1988 she moved to Denver, Colorado to work for the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. In early 1990, Linda and Robert relocated to Mobile, AL, where they later worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Cotton Hill State Park in Ft. Gaines, GA. In 1996, Linda and Robert moved to Shoal Creek Valley in St. Clair County. They had finally found their home at Shoal Creek Valley.
Linda’s family was fortunate to have so many people love and care for their Mom. The family would like to thank the Shoal Creek Valley Volunteer Fire Department, Station #1 and the many friends and neighbors who provided assistance over the years. Thank you to Landon’s friends who were always available to lend Mom a helping hand.
Funeral service will be at 12 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at Morgan Funeral Chapel with Bro. Clay Spears officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:30 until 12p.m. Burial at Pineview Cemetery in Altoona. Pallbearers will be Landon Copus and his friends Jeffrey Todd, Chris Harden, E.J. Moss, Arizona Pentecost, and Dee Weeks.
Mom’s beautiful life will forever be cherished by the ones that always loved her.
