Marilyn Jean Dennis

Marilyn F. Dennis passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on August 25th, 2025. The family will receive friends at St James Catholic Church, 622 Chestnut St, Gadsden, AL, 35901, on August 30th from 1:15 PM until 2:00 PM with a memorial service following at 2:00 PM officiated by Rev. Fr. Jose Chacko.

Marilyn was born January 5th, 1947 to Charles William Focht and Roberta Aromi Focht. She graduated from John Carroll High School and afterwards attended the University of Alabama, where she received a degree in physical therapy. It was while attending UA that she met her best friend, life partner, and future husband, Maurice. Marilyn loved her family and friends dearly. She was a Mimi to her grandkids, a Momma to her two children, a sister, friend, and devoted wife. Her children and grandchildren were some of the brightest parts of her life.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Carol Focht Goetch.

She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Maurice Ernest Dennis Jr; her daughter, Amy Dennis Williams (Chris); her son, Michael Steven Dennis (Patricia); and her grandchildren, Noah Christopher Williams, Madeline Grace Williams, Piper Mirian Dennis, and Charlie Schaefer Dennis; sister-in-law, Jennifer Dennis Crosland, and many dear family members and friends.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Marilyn’s caregivers at St. Martin’s in the Pines, Kirkwood by the River, and Affinity Hospice. The family would also like to thank Jackie Cunningham for taking great care of Marilyn and the family.
