

Dr. Michael W. McIntyre, born on May 8, 1937, in Asheville, NC, peacefully departed this world into the arms of his loving Savior, on December 13, 2023. Raised in Syracuse, NY; he was involved in the success of the family business, the McIntyre Paper Company. Michael pursued his passion for medicine, attending undergraduate and medical school at Syracuse University. He furthered his expertise through a medical internship at the University of Michigan and served as a distinguished officer in the United States Air Force. After his military service, he completed a residency in ophthalmology at UAB Callahan Eye Foundation Hospital.
In 1971, he planted roots in Gadsden, AL, where he dedicated his career to healing and caring for others until his well-deserved retirement in 2012. He was a member of the local Lions Club through which he volunteered to see patients who could not afford his services regularly. Dr. McIntyre’s compassionate nature and commitment to his community left an enduring impact on those he served.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly, and will be deeply missed by his children: Rebecca (Rick), Sarah (Joe), and Mark (Kim). Grandchildren: Julia, Margaret, Fincher, Jonathan, Stephanie, Braden, & Kalyn, along with several great-grandchildren.
Dr. McIntyre’s legacy lives on through the memories of those he touched and the lives he enriched. May he rest in eternal peace.
