Oscar Lee Link

Oscar Lee Link was born on Oct. 11, 1939. He passed from this world on June 29, 2024. He was 84 years of age. He was born in Gadsden, Alabama and lived in Attalla, Alabama for the past 40 Years. His funeral will be at Morgan Funeral Chapel. Funeral will be Wednesday July 3, at 11 AM. Visitation is from 9 -11 AM. He will be buried at Oak Hill Cemetery, in Attalla, with Reverend Sammy Odell Officiating.

Oscar was in the U.S. Army for 9 years. He was an Aircraft Engine Mechanic in the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service. Throughout his 27 years Postal Service career, he worked as a postal clerk and supervisor at the Gadsden Post Office and Fort Payne Post Office. For 10 years he served as Postmaster in the Attalla Post Office. Oscar was a member for many years at Siberton Baptist Church.

Oscar was preceded in death by his father Arthur S. Link, mother, Lois Oates Link Coffey, Daughter: Virginia Renae Link Larson, Granddaughter: Mary Benefield, and Bonus Granddaughter Nya Champion. Brothers: Larry Link, William Link, Clarence Link, Johnny Link, and sisters: Frances Link Kilgore, Shirley Link Williams, Doris Link Wingate and baby sister Helen Faye Link. Daughter in law: Cheryl Link

He is survived by his wife Carol (Bonnie) Smith Link, sons: Michael Link (Julie), David Link (Karon), Marty Link, Darrell Link, and Paul Link (Melissa). Bonus sons: Jimmy Benefield (Toni), Chris Benefield (Angela), Tony Benefield (Erin), and Heath Benefield. Grandsons: Jeremy Link, Brendon Link, Joshua Link, Justin Link, Tyler Link, Vincent Link, Victor Link, Joah Christian, Seth Benefield, Jeremy Benefield, Grant Benefield, Elliot Benefield, and Ryan Benefield. Granddaughters: Heather Lauren Link, Valerie Link Gibbs, Christina Link, Shellby Benefield, Grace Benefield, Melanie Benefield Connell, and Rylie Benefield Gattis. Sister: Linda Link Mayo. He is survived by 14 great-grandchildren.
