October 5, 1963 - May 14, 2024.
We have lost our dear Rebecca.
She was a much-loved sister, aunt, great aunt, niece, cousin, and friend.
Rebecca was smart, generous, dependable, and funny. Her greatest love was being an aunt and great aunt. She loved her family and was much loved by them. Her passion was travel, from California to Alaska, Europe, Israel, and beyond, always planning a new adventure. She was a lifelong and voracious reader of many genres but she also loved the simple pleasures of porch sitting, plant growing, music, and lunch out with her sisters and friends.
She was a Valedictorian of Ashville High School’s class of 1982. Rebecca then graduated from Auburn with a degree in electrical engineering and worked for the Army and Air Force with great dedication to ensure the helicopters, lasers, and weapons systems she was responsible for were effective and safe for our military members.
Rebecca overcame breast cancer and endured a long battle with kidney disease. The close family will hold a private gathering in the near future to celebrate her life and share memories.
She survived her parents Helen Hubbard Hollingsworth and Huey “Sport” Hollingsworth, and she will be greatly missed by her immediate family Freda Souter; Lisa and Gene Gamblin; Jasmine, Aras, Alek, and Adelyn Acemgil; Amanda, Dusty, and Aiden Davis; Jess Helwyn, Gabriel Barron, and Kathrin Souter; and Margeaux, Zaine, Leo, Everett, and Oliver Woods.
Special thanks to Lori, Jennifer, and the rest of her dialysis team at Fresenius and the rest of her medical care team.
