Ammon Jabhari Ditu

Ammon Jabhari Ditu was granted his angel wings on December 19, 2013 following a lifelong illness. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Ammon touched in some way throughout his short, yet very unforgettable life.

Ammon’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understand that the value of his life far surpasses the amount of time in which he lived. His kind smile could melt the hearts of those around him.

Although Ammon’s illness eventually made him seem frail, he always possessed strength, diligence, and an ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. With his courage he led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. He could spend hours playing basketball, mimicking his older brother, Kabongo. He enjoys music, dancing, and drinking tea with his Kaku. Although Spiderman and The Ninja Turtles are his favorite super heroes, Ammon is a super hero himself.

With Ammon’s passing we remind others that his life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss him every day, especially his winning smile and dimples…he will forever remain in our hearts.

Ammon leaves behind many wonderful caregivers that provided love and support that enhanced his quality of life. Ammon’s love extends to his wonderful nurses, Kayla, Eileen, Lizzy, and more. There is a special place in our hearts for Ammon’s doctor “Dr. Kharbanda;” because of her continual dedication, love and support. He will be dearly missed by all his special caregivers at Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital. All of these special people, too numerous to mention, provided Ammon with love and dignity in his life and also in his death.

Ammon is survived by his loving parent, Ngalula Ditu; brother Kabongo N. Scott; maternal Kaku’s Musau WaKabongo, Ngolela wa Kabongo, Kalonji Kabongo, Kabongo Kabongo & Nana Katanda; Aunt Tshiela Benda; Uncles Kabongo Ngandu & Ditu Kasuyi; cousins Benda Ngandu & Ditu Kasuyi II; and many many more family & friends.
