Del Lloyd Duff

January 1st, 2022 with his wife, daughter, and son-in-law by his side. He was 68

years old. He is survived by his wife Donna, daughters Rebecca Velarde, Elaine

Reeves, and Laura Bales, son-in-laws Ricardo Velarde, Ed Reeves, and Dan Bales,

and his grandchildren, Paige, Diego, Alyssa, Riley, Dane, and Levi. He is also

survived by his mother Glaphry Duff and eight of his nine siblings, along with many

cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Del grew up in a military family, moving often from state to state, finally settling in

Fallbrook, California in the early 1970s. He graduated from Fallbrook High School

and went straight into college, attending San Diego State and then Long Beach State.

He married his wife Donna Sue Gillan in 1974 and over the years had three beloved

daughters while living in Southern California. He moved to Cool, California in 1983

where they built their own house in Auburn Lake Trails; he lived at this residence

until the day of his passing.

Upon moving to Auburn Lake Trails, Del picked up the game of golf where he

continued to play on local courses and tournaments. He found much success on the

golf course and recently was an ALT Golf Champion being awarded the Men’s Low

Gross 125. He was a lifelong Los Angeles Dodger and Green Bay Packer fan and

loved driving his daughters nuts by always having sports on the television.

In the early 2000s, he decided to change professions and graduated from Sacramento

State with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. He worked at Auburn Faith Hospital for

nearly 15 years as a nurse working in the Medical/Telemetry Unit until he retired in

2020.

Throughout Del’s life, he enjoyed going on road trips with his family. One of his

greatest joys was the annual camping trip with his children and grandchildren where

they explored campgrounds all over California. His grandchildren were so precious to

him, and he took every moment to spoil them and remind them that he loved them.

He will be dearly missed.

His family held a small family memorial on Friday, January 7th, but is planning on

hosting a Celebration of Life in the spring where all family and friends are invited to

attend and share stories and memories about Del. In the meantime, please visit and
