Jack was a wonderful Father to Mary and son-in-law Neill, to Jackie and son-in-law David, and to Tom and daughter-in-law Josita, Grandfather to Michael, Natasha, Andrew, Sherrie, Sam, Janelle, Tina and Pedro. Great Grandfather to Sophia, Dominic, Aubrey, Hunter, Kaleb, Gavin, Issac, Ian, Imelia and a dear friend to many. He loved family and friends and treated all with kindness and respect. Jack was born in Oakland, July 9, 1920. His family then moved to Auburn where he attended Alta Vista School, and then continued his education in the Bay Area. After Junior College, he enlisted in the Army and then returned to school and graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. His career was with Alameda County as a Health Inspector for 30 years. During this time, another love of his life was scouting. Jack was the Boy Scout leader for troop 801 for 20 years. He went on many 50 mile backpack trips, as well as, attending many Boy Scout camps. He received the Silver Beaver award, the highest service award a leader can achieve. After retirement, Jack returned to Auburn, where one of the first things he did was to become a member of the Pioneer First Methodist Church, across the street. He also became very active in the Masons Eureka Lodge #16, Mt. Vernon Grange #453, the Shriners, and Auburn Square and Compass Club. These organizations were very important to him, as well as, the people in them. Jack's other loves in his life were walking his dogs on the railroad tracks, traveling, fishing, spending many hours gardening, playing horseshoes with family and finally his love of food. His family likes to tell the story when they were in Yellowstone and a bear came into camp at breakfast time. Jack took his plate of pancakes and headed for the hills, leaving the family with the bear! Three years ago, Jack moved to Livermore, residing at Quail Garden Assisted Living, until his passing last week. There he was the only man, many said he was the only rooster in the hen house! Jack felt very pampered at Quail because all the women and caregivers "doetted" on him, which made him feel very special. Jack will be remembered as a loving, caring, supportive and kind Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and friend, who always had a positive look on life. He touched many lives and will always hold a special place in many hearts.
