

Julia was the ninth of ten children born to Mathias Heuertz and Susan Konen-Heuertz on April 30, 1919, in Juniata, Nebraska and in the year of 1921 moved to Valley Falls, Kansas where she attended St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic School and graduated from Valley Falls High School in the year of 1937.
Julia was a member of St Mary’s Immaculate Conception Church choir. On October 18, 1941, she married the love of her life, Bernard Theis in Valley Falls, Kansas. Julia and Bernard worked the Heuertz family farm in Valley Falls, Kansas for many years. In October 1953, Julia and Bernard moved to California with four children and Julia then had her fifth child while living in Hayward California.
In 1955 the family moved to Danville California where Julia was a member of St. Isidore’s Catholic Church. Julia was a religion teacher for twenty years, secretary of the Mother’s Club at church and a member of the church choir, for over 24 years. Julia was also a Cub Scout Den Mother.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents and her nine brothers, Joseph, Anthony, Benedict, George, Edward, Adolph, Peter, Engelbert, and Matthew Heuertz.
Julia is survived by her husband of 74 years, Bernard Joseph Theis, three sons, Frederick (Arlene) Theis, James (Linda) Theis, Daniel (Ida) Theis, and two daughters, Diane (Randy) Ross, and Lorraine (Chris) Nielsen. She is also survived by then grandchildren twenty-two great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
