
Katherine Helen Briscoe Preece, age 101, born in Schenectady, New York to Charles and Helen Avery Briscoe. Kay passed away in Vancouver, WA on 18 Jan 2020. Preceded in death by husband Harry Gordon Preece, daughter Katherine and son Charles from a previous marriage. She leaves son Ron Preece, granddaughters Heather Bennett and Kristen Preece. Also, several other grandchildren and over a dozen great-grandchildren.
Kay was baptized in June of 1918 and confirmed April 9, 1933 both at the First English Lutheran Church in Schenectady, NY. While she lived in Loomis, CA she was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church there.
Kay came to California in 1939 and while working at Sunset-McKee during WWII she met Harry Preece, a Coast Guard Storekeeper at Government Island in Alameda. In December of 1945 they were married and remained so until Harry’s death in 2002. Kay and Harry came to Loomis in 1965 and remained there until they moved to Rocklin around 2000. Following a small stroke Kay moved to Vancouver, WA to be closer to her son and granddaughters.
Kay also worked at McClellan AFB, Aerojet General and retired after many years working for the California State Assembly.
Kay was a descendant of several Mayflower passengers, Palatine immigrants and first colonists of the United States.
Services will be held at Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home 1331 Lincoln Way, Auburn, CA 95603 on January 27, 2020 at 11:15 a.m. Graveside service will follow at the Newcastle Cemetery. It is Kay’s desire that attendees dress in everyday casual.
