It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Louis “Louie” Miller. Louie had just celebrated his 94th birthday and left us on May 24, 2022. He leaves behind is wife Edith, son Robert of Fair Oaks, daughters Pam Mead and husband Bob of Cool and Patti Kyle and husband Jeff of Chuckey, TN and all of their families.
Louie was born in Colfax, Ca to Louis and Anita Miller. He is the oldest of five boys. After graduating from Placer High in Auburn, CA. Louie work several jobs until finding a home with PG & E. During this time Louie met the love of his life on a summers evening in Alta, Ca. Their first meeting was a dusk while Edith and her girlfriend where out walking. The pending darkness made it hard for Louie to see Edith son she told him to kick up his headlights and she stepped into the light and literally lit up his world for the next 72 years.
Louie worked for PG&E for 38 Years. He retired as a Foreman. The household joke was when Louie retired he quickly found that there was a new Forman in town, namely Edith as he was now on her turf.
Louie enjoyed the outdoors. He loved taking his young family camping in the Sierra’s or traveling to Lawson’s Landing near Petaluma and camping near the beach. Louie had the Patience of Job when it came to fishing. At any time, he would set down his fishing pole to help when one of the kids got their line tangled in a tree due to an inaccurate cast.
The Miller’s homeownership adventure began in Bowman. Then in 1963 they moved to Meadow Vista where they lived on Cole Road near Lays Lake for 56 years. They were members of Placer Hills Community Church for most of their years in Meadow vista. They made lifelong friends at the Church and today they surround Edith with love and prayers.
When health issues made it hard to maintain the Meadow Vista property, they downsized to Solstice Senior Living in Auburn where they enjoyed care free living with lots of activities and special friendships.
For those who needed extra assistance at Solstice, Maria Medina has the best on site Caregiver staff. We can’t name everyone but they are the BEST and we are so blessed to have them in our lives giving Louie the extra care he needed.
When Louie passed away, he had been under the Sutter Auburn Hospice care since Nov 2021. We wishto thank all of the Hospice staff that helped make this difficult time so much easier.
