

He lived his entire life at the family ranch on Andregg Rd. Marvin attended St Joseph Catholic School then Placer High School. He was active in shooting, track and football during high school. He met the love of his life Patricia Elbrader while at Placer High. He and Patricia shared 63 years of marriage before her passing in 2020. Together they raised four children on the ranch.
Marvin started work for the Placer County Sheriff Department as a reserve deputy in the late 50’s, then in 1962 as a full time deputy. He loved telling stories about the 1960 winter Olympics where he had the chance to guard many celebrities including Vice President Richard Nixon and Walt Disney. He quickly found that police work was his calling and joined the Sheriff’s Department for 30 years retiring in 1992 as a Captain. He was very proud of his career and the many friends he made along the way. Marvin was instrumental in starting the Placer County Search and Rescue volunteer program which he remained very active until his retirement. Marvin and Patricia would take vacation time from their regular jobs and work mounted patrol for the California State Police at the state fair.
Marvin and Patty had a passion for riding horses and completed many competitions, his favorite being the Tevis Cup 100 mile ride which he completed and loved to show off his belt buckle. Marvin was very involved with the community, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge, Tevis Cup Foundation, Auburn Fair Board, Native Sons of the Golden West, 4-H , and many Portuguese Associations celebrating his family heritage. He very much enjoyed going on yearly hunting trips with his cousins, Ralph and Louie, and his sons and grandsons.
Marvin is survived by sons Dennis (Shannon), Daniel (Sue) and daughter Diane Arellano (Keith), son in law Steve Mancebo.
Marvin leaves behind grandchildren Nicholas, Jamie, Tyler, Chris, Joe, Justin, Leslie, Trevor and Taylor as well as 11 great grandchildren, and dear friend and companion Kathy Arnold.
He was proceeded in death by his father Joseph, mother Mary, infant brother Edwin, loving wife Patty, daughter Denise, and grandson Blake.
The reception will be at the Ridge Golf Course following cemetery burial.
