

Stuart (Stu) Richard Foster, a resident of Roseville, California, passed away on December 25, 2025, at the age of 88 years, due to pneumonia with complications. He was born January 11, 1937, in Lansing, Michigan, to Richard A. Foster and Lea A. Jensen,
Stu attended East Lansing High School, where he was a class leader and participated in football, basketball, and track. He continued his education at the University of Colorado Boulder for two years before returning to East Lansing, graduating from Michigan State University with a degree in Business Administration, and marrying his wife, Vicki. His extended education included the American Savings and Loan Institute, the University of Washington Executive Development Program, the University of California Extension, and courses in Real Estate Appraisal & Law.
From 1958 to 1959, Stu served in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Stu had a long career in banking in California, where he held positions in Petaluma at Redwood Empire S&L, in Tahoe City at Heart Federal S&L, and in Auburn at Heart Federal S&L, which later merged with U.S. Bank. He retired in 1994 as President, CEO, and Chairman of the Board of US Bank, California. He also served on numerous boards and committees in the communities where he lived.
Stu was married to Vicki (Smith) Foster for more than 65 years. He is survived by his wife Vicki; sons Scott Foster (wife Marla) and Dan Foster (wife Danielle); and was predeceased by his son, Greg Foster. He is also survived by his sister, Karen (Foster) Hargrove; three grandchildren, Eric, Katie, and Zane; and five great-grandchildren, Alliyah, Adrianna, Ash, Caleb, and Jaycee.
Throughout his life, Stu found time for hobbies such as tennis, snow skiing, raising beef cattle, karate, canoeing, and golf. He will be remembered as a good family man - kind, honest, a good friend and leader, with a winning smile and a sparkle in his eye.
Charitable donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
No public memorial service will be held.
