Betty was born on November 16, 1931, in Swanton, Ohio, to Andrew and Nora Mikola. Betty spent much of her childhood in Swanton, and attended Swanton High School. Betty then moved to Toledo, Ohio with her husband Donald Lagger, and finally moved to Michigan in 2018 to be closer to family. She decided she wanted to move in August, around the same time two of her grandchildren were moving, but refused to move in the spring, or she would hire her own mover!
Betty had a zest for life and would do anything for her family. She often worked two jobs, and even nannied in Las Vegas for a time. She spent many years as a service associate at Rink Bargain City.
Betty loved to play euchre and bingo, you could always find her playing bingo on Thursday afternoons, and she would often win! A top selling point of moving to her apartment was the fact that there was a beauty salon right down the hall, she made sure to have her hair done every Friday, which by the way she never developed gray hair even at the age of 93! Betty never missed an episode of Judge Judy and spent Monday nights watching The Bachelor every season with her daughter Janet. Betty was a true firecracker, and you always knew exactly where you stood with her, she would tell it like it is.
Betty is survived by her two children: Janet Thomas (Howard Weinger), and Donald Lagger (Tracey Taras), her grandchildren: Benjamin Lagger (Melissa Radder), Levi Lagger, Zachery (Kimberly) Thomas, Ashley (Justin) Cogan, Andrew (Stephanie) Ebert, Amanda (Thomas) Newhard, and Joshua Lagger, her great-grandchildren: Chase, Gretchen, Susan, Charlotte, Averie, Casey, and Jameson, her nieces, and nephews: Sandra Truckor, Sharon Boueshover, Mark Mikola, Susie Klute, Sally Drucken, Jean Miller, Pat Kiefer, Sheryl Angus, and Don Mason and other family members: Greg, Matt, and Max Weinger.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents Andrew and Nora Mikola, children: Andrea Ebert and Scott "Michael" Lagger, and her siblings: Andrew "Mickey", Jeanette, Marcus "Mugs", Leo, and Don.
Donations in Betty's name may be made to her favorite charity, St. Joseph's Indian School. PO Box 326, Chamberlin, South Dakota, or at www.stjo.org/give.
