

ROPER, Daniel William, age 86, of Rochester Hills, died Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Waltonwood at University in Rochester Hills. He was born April 18, 1926, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Alvin and Shirley (Clark) Roper. He was a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Army – Air Corps and graduated from Ohio State University. Previously employed by Eaton Corp, he retired as a Research Engineer with Rockwell Corp in 1989. He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn B. (Ciaciuch) Roper, whom he married March 28, 1987. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Iris Irene (Kaufman) Roper on October 25, 1970. Loving father of Paul (Cindy) Roper, Carl (Lori) Roper and Barry (Carmen) Roper. Step-father of Michelle (Shawn) Fick and Kimberly Huffman. Grandfather of Renee, Lisa, Jessica, Shane, Christopher, Sarah, Anna, Matthew, Deborah, Emma, Andrew, Alex, and Riley. Great-grandfather of Cory, Marshall, Audrey, Ryan, Olivia, Kellie and Robert. Brother-In-Law of James (the late Virginia) Woodworth. Scripture Service 12:30 p.m. Monday at PIXLEY FUNERAL HOME of Auburn Hills, 3530 Auburn Road in Auburn Hills 48326, the Rev. Brian Chabala, officiating. Inurnment with Military Honors will take place at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Because of Dan’s love of animals, especially dogs, the family has requested that memorial contributions in his name be directed to Leader Dogs for the Blind or the Michigan Humane Society.
