

James Kenneth Bridges, 69, of Rochester Hills passed away on April 25, 2015. Born in Pontiac, MI on February 1, 1946. Son of Earl and Iva Black. Graduated from Avondale High School, class of 1964. Married to Judy Lee Edwards on February 13, 1965.
Jim owned and operated Bridges Lawn Service from 1969 – 2010. He worked physically hard and settled for nothing but perfection. He was known in his industry and his work was admired by many. Jim enjoyed many hobbies and had a multitude of cherished friendships. He had a love for hunting and fishing, gardening, playing his guitar and singing. His most treasured hobby was rabbit hunting with his beloved beagles. As longest serving volunteer in jail chaplaincy at Oakland County Jail, for 43 years God touched many souls through Jim’s ministry. He fulfilled the call on his life by a sacrificial willingness to carry the message of salvation and recovery to those in need. His life reflected a selfless dedication to "the least of these" while esteeming others higher than himself. With an infectious smile, a strong spirit and an attitude of gratitude, Jim's positive influence on family and friends remains as his living testimony and legacy.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; son Scott Bridges (Abby) of New Baltimore, MI; son Matthew Bridges of Rochester Hills, MI; daughter Leisa Christensen (Adam) of Clarkston, MI; son James Bridges Jr (Carolynn) of Shelby Twp, MI; brother Chester Bridges (Betty) of Rochester, MI; and six grandchildren. Preceded in death by his sister Norma Burton (Brades) of Portland, TN.
A memorial service will be held in his honor at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 2 at Troy Assembly of God, 3200 Livernois Rd, Troy, MI.
