He was born on May 6, 1956 in Lansing, MI, son of the late Dirk and Ruth Dieters, Sr.
Jim graduated from Rochester High School in 1974 and was named Falcon of the Year for his exceptional participation in Baseball, Football, and Basketball. He was also inducted into the Rochester High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
Jim played on the Oakland University Baseball team with his brother Bob and coached by their father Dirk, Sr. He graduated from Oakland University in 1978 with a general education degree and was drafted that same year to the Saint Louis Cardinals Organization. He was later inducted into the Oakland University Hall of Honor for holding several school records that took over 20 years to be broken.
He was an exceptional golfer and was often teased about how he should join the PGA Senior Tour.
He married the love of his life Irene Joy Dieters on August 23, 2008.
Jim was the beloved owner of Duffy’s Pub in Auburn Hills, MI and former partner in Stan’s Dugout and Suburban Softball.
He had a passion for the Michigan State Spartans and spending time at the cottage in Harbor Beach.
Jim is survived by his wife Irene Dieters, his daughters Amy Cummings (Brian), Sarah Dieters and Molly Dieters. As well as, his stepchildren Alysia Bowman (Fred), Lane Lehman and Melanie Lehman.

Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, September 26, 2020 from 12pm - 2pm at the American Legion, 96 Churchill Rd. in Auburn Hills.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
