Born and raised in Alma, LaNae lived in Warren until 1976, and Troy, MI since then. LaNae suffered a stroke on September 17th, and passed away peacefully in the presence of family at St. Joseph Hospital in Pontiac, MI.
LaNae attended Ferris University. After college LaNae moved to Detroit, and earned a Beauty Operator's License before marrying Anthony Michael. She was an excellent seamstress, gardener and cook, and enjoyed organizing family gatherings, church banquets and meals. She enjoyed camping (even with 2 or 3 children in cloth diapers,) and travel. She traveled to the Holy Lands, England and all over the United States. She was an active volunteer at 1st United Methodist Church of Troy for many years, and active with the Troy Historical Society.
Most of her friends who know her as Lennie, say she was a great listener with a dry sense of humor. Many consider Lennie a 2nd mom, as she freely welcomed everyone into her home, feeding them, and treating them like family. For the past 20 years, her grandchildren looked forward each Easter to Lenny's famous Easter Egg hunts, in which she hid hundreds of candy and toy filled plastic eggs over 3 acres.
LaNae's father Albert, mother Gladah, sister Peggy, and brother David preceeded her in death. While we celebrate her homecoming, LaNae will be greatly missed by her husband of 54 years, Anthony Michael, and their six children: Kirk (Monica), Christine (Kevin), Randy (Harumi), Lisa, David, Elaine (Phil.)
LaNae and Anthony have 17 grand children: Christina and Joshua Michael; Shannon, Cody, Molly, Kelly and Collin Gibson; Julianne and Tony Michael; Chase, Trisha, Carly and Jamie Daiek; Riley and Emily Michael; and Griffin and Hadley Urrutia.
In lieu of flowers, family is requesting a donation towards the care of LaNae's grand daughter, Julianne Michael. Contributions may be made out to Julianne Michael, and will be gratefully accepted care of Randy Michael, 895 Adelaide, Wolverine Lake, MI 48390.
