

HACKETT, Marion Alma, of Rochester Hills, MI; 13 December 2014, age 91. Wife of the late David W. HACKETT; survived by 7 children, 6 in metro Detroit area, David L. (Linda), MaryAnn RANKIN (John) of Porterville, CA; Sally J.; Joan TREVASKIS (Guy);Thomas A.(Kay); Peter A. (Elizabeth); and Matthew E. (Lori); foster mother to the late Dell and David HUTCHISON; grandmother to Christopher (Anissa) HACKETT, Stephanie (Jeff) LOTT, Annie (Gerry) NICKLES, Heather NAWROCKI, and Janelle HACKETT; David, Dell, and Scott HUTCHINSON; Wendy BERLIN and Rochelle KENWORTHY
and great-grandmother to many; her best friend at her passing was Becky PARRY.
Marion was born July 23, 1923 in Coventry, England to Tom and Elsie HUGHES, coming to Detroit, and later, Rochester as a child. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas W. HUGHES (currently of Leon, KS). She met David HACKETT at Rochester High School, and they married in February of 1944 in Neosho, MO before he was sent to duty in the Pacific. While raising seven children, Mrs. Hackett graduated from Oakland University and became a teacher. She received an MLS from WSU and became a librarian also in the Pontiac School District. She was active in education, serving on the Avondale School Board and hosting AFS students with her family. She was also very active in music as a piano teacher, accompanist, choir director and organist at St. Philips Church. Later, she was an active member of All Saints’ Episcopal, Pontiac, and tutored for the Bound Together program.
