Mitsuko was born the daughter of Katsuo and Teiko Yonekura, in Sao Paulo, Brazil on August 23rd, 1929. At age seven, Mitsuko moved with her family to Japan. Mitsuko earned her college degree in Tokyo and began teaching English to Japanese students. She was married to Kenneth Van Hooser in Japan. Mitsuko and Kenneth moved to Rochester Hills where they raised their family. Mitsuko studied to become a US Citizen.
Mitsuko was an avid reader and valued education for herself and others. Her hobbies included sewing and crafts. Most of all, she loved her family.
Mitsuko is survived by her children David (Trena), Kenneth (Kathleen), Cynthia, Katherine, Deborah, and Scott (Ammie); grandchildren Matthew, Ashley, Justin, Andrew, Kennedy, Rachel, Miranda, Katelyn, Penelope, Arianna, Sage, Nathaniel, Sophia, Elijah, and Josiah; great grandchildren Abigail, Samantha, Timothy, Madden, Oliver, Winston, Charlee, and Margot.
Mitsuko is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth (2017), and her siblings; Teruo, Mariko, Ruriko, Yukio, Kunio, and Toshiko.
Mitsuko will be interred at Christian Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Services will be private.
