

Lois Amanda Johnson passed away October 21, 2014, at her home, the Weatherly Inn in Kent, Washington, after six years of battling Alzheimer’s disease. She was born March 14, 1935, in St. Paul, Minnesota. She was an honor student and graduate of Wilson High, Class of 1953. On October 27, 1956, she married the love of her life, Donald Johnson. Lois and Don began their family in St. Paul and then moved to Appleton, Wisconsin where they lived until 1977. The family then moved to Auburn, Washington.
Lois was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She loved gardening and music. As an active member and past president of the Auburn Garden Club for at least twenty years, Lois donated hundreds of her plants for annual community plant sales. She participated in church choirs for over thirty years. Her volunteer activities also included the Messiah Lutheran Church quilting group and church library committee, adult literacy program, and Sunday School teaching over many years. Throughout her life, Lois’s caring, outgoing nature was a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She spent her life glorifying her beloved Savior, Jesus Christ.
Lois was preceded in death by her mother and father, Myrtle and Irven Benson, and her brother, Miles Benson. She is survived by her husband, Donald; her children, Steven, Susan Martin (Dan), and Karen Marez; her grandchildren, Kate and Trey Marez, and Kahlee and Taylor Martin; her sister Gloria Magnuson of Apache Junction, Arizona, and her brother David Benson of Bemidji, Minnesota.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, October 27, 2014, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Auburn preceded by visitation at 10:15 AM. A reception will immediately follow the service in the Gathering Hall. A graveside service will be held the following day at Mountain View Cemetery at 10 AM.
