

Scott G. Franklin passed away June 5, 2010, at his home in Renton, Washington. He was born December 4, 1954 in Seattle, Washington, the son of Nancy and John Franklin.
Scott grew up in Kent, Washington where he graduated from Kentridge Senior High School in 1973. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy as an Electronics Technician where he was trained to maintain meteorological and oceanographic equipment. He was stationed in Subic Bay, Philippines, Naval Station Guam, and then his final assignment at sea on the USS Juneau. After 8 years he had achieved the rank of Petty Officer First Class. During the span of his military career, he took advantage of the tropical locations and learned to scuba dive, exploring the many reefs and shipwrecks along the coastal waterways.
After departing from the Navy in 1981, Scott moved to Renton, Washington accepting a position as a Field Service Engineer for Siemens Medical Systems where he performed maintenance and installations of various types of X-ray, diagnostic imaging, and radiation therapy equipment throughout a 4 state area.
In 1990, he began a job with Breda Transportation in Issaquah, Washington where he performed the initial testing and problem resolution of electrical and mechanical systems on articulated coaches delivered to Seattle Metro.
When Breda completed the delivery of buses, he moved on to Qualcomm, maintaining film processing equipment. After Qualcomm moved out of the region, Scott accepted a position at Fuji where he also maintained and repaired film processing equipment.
Scott was an avid reader of science fiction material, completing several books each week during his lifetime. He also enjoyed going to movies, eating home cooked meals, hunting, and fishing. He built many computers as a hobby and loved to troubleshoot PC issues for friends and family members.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Olson, his father, John Franklin, and his sister, Cindi Franklin. He is survived by his brother Rob Franklin, as well as many friends and relatives.
A Memorial Service for Scott will be held on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 11 am at Price-Helton Funeral Home located at 702 Auburn Way North in Auburn. Following the memorial service, inurnment will take place at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington.
