Benjamin "Benji" Cruz Jr.

A master of the grill, Benjamin found joy in cooking, especially his brisket. Food was a language of love expressed through every carefully prepared meal and he was well known at his church for his skill. Benjamin also found immense happiness in his family, especially his grandchildren and the bond they shared. He was knowledgeable about cars, even teaching some of his children how to change their own oil and tires. Together with his beloved wife Nydia, he also enjoyed traveling and creating new memories.

Benjamin is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Nydia Cruz; his children Joanne Price (Josh) of Lake Jackson, TX, Alfredo Pineiro (Valerie) of San Antonio, TX, Tony Pineiro (Josie) Angleton, TX, Benjamin (Benny) Cruz III (Tecarro) of Richwood, TX, and Carlos Cruz of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Eric, Nicolas, Abeni, Daniel, Kayden, Amari, Luis, Victor, Samm, Kamryn, Jacob, Elijah, Tydrick, Brooklyn, Houstyn, Oaklynn; step-children, Veronica Wilson (Zengi) and their children Vanessa and Zarion, and David Torres (Kelly) and their children Isaac and Sophie; as well as five great grandchildren, and other extended family members and friends.

A celebration of life for Benji will be held Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Heart of the Father, 2025 Bartow Road, Lakeland, Florida 33801.
