Betty Louise Tew, 84, went home to be with the Lord on September 15, 2021. Her family was with her at home when she decided to make the journey to her much deserved reward. She was born on January 18, 1937, in Winter Haven, Florida where she lived her entire life. She was at home with her family and died of natural causes.
Betty worked as a Citrus Sectionizer for over 30 years at Donald Duck, Bordo Citrus, and Ben Hill Griffin. When she retired, she and her husband Nathan began one of Polk Counties first Blueberry Farms, noted as Tew Blueberry Farms. The farm eventually grew from just one farm to three. It was hard work, but she was an integral part of making this a success, and only ended the business due to health issues after over 30 years. Their berries were some of the best!
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Tew, and her daughter Eugenia Kay Bodiford. She leaves behind her daughter, Teresa Hedge and Cecil Hedge her son-in-law; 4 grandchildren: Shannah Acevedo, Brandon Hedge, Thomas West and Cody Bodiford; 5 great grandchildren: Alannah & Jena Acevedo, Carter Hedge and Chloe and Colten Bodiford. The funeral services will be held at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, 2198 K-Ville Ave., Auburndale on Tuesday, September 21st with a visitation being held from 9-10 a.m., and a service will follow at 10 a.m.
