Charlie was born and raised in New York City. A proud WWII Navy Veteran, he served on the USS Guam CB2 (while his four brothers also served) and all, thankfully, came home. He moved to Miami after the war and began a long career at Merrill-Stevens Drydock, working his way up from dockhand to Superintendent.
He cherished family and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle.
Charlie’s favorite moments were spent with his family and friends, playing golf and Dirty Marbles, volunteering at LVIM and his church, traveling, watching sports and westerns, and eating sweets.
He is preceded in death by his wife Lucille; brothers Alfred, Raymond, John, and Roman; sister Beatrice; and many shipmates and friends.
While his physical life on earth is over, he has begun an eternal and beautiful journey.
He is survived by his wife Linda; children Fred (Gail), Laurie Tisdale (Bob), Charlie Jr. (Sukanya), and Dina Vann; five grandchildren (Ann-Marie, Lisa, Erik, Allyson, and Elyse); five great grandchildren (Zackory, Samantha, Thomas, Bailie, and Billie); three nieces; and one nephew.
The family extends sincere thanks to the teams from Senior Helpers and VITAS Hospice for providing comfort and peace to both Charlie and us.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 5th at Lake Gibson Methodist Church in Lakeland.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in his memory to Lake Gibson Methodist Church, Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine, or VITAS Hospice. Be kind to one another.
