Daris Jean Collier

On June 28, 1957, Daris married the love of her life, Robert F. Collier, and together they raised their family. She later retired from Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home and Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens where she was a beloved staff member for many years. Daris was committed to her faith, finding joy and purpose in Bible study and in her service to her church community at Renovation Church in Lakeland. Whether gathered around the dinner table or sharing in moments of prayer, Daris created a home filled with love, faith, and warmth.

Daris is survived by her husband of over 67 years, Robert F. Collier, children Dwayne Collier (Joanna) and Rhonda Schmidt (Jim), grandchildren Ian Porter, Joshua Collier, Jesse Collier, Cameron Porter, Angel Collier, Christy Richardson (Myles), and Aidan Schmidt, great grandchildren Sylvia Porter, Jalene Collier, Matthew Collier, Miles Porter, Cameron Porter, and Mila Richardson, brother Dewey Turbeville, sister Nell Harrison, and many other extended family members and friends. Daris was preceded in death by her parents Dewey Turbeville and Anna Posey Turbeville, as well as two siblings, Elaine Powell and Jerry Turbeville.

A visitation for Daris will be held Friday, November 29, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, 2198 K-Ville Ave, Auburndale, Florida 33823 followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM. Daris will be laid to rest at Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens.
