

Foster John Ouderkirk, age 90, passed away after a brief illness on January 1, 2025, at Good Shepherd Hospice House of Auburndale, FL. He was born on January 12, 1934. His parents preceded him in death, Roy and Pearl (Wiltse) Ouderkirk of Hope, MI.
He described an idyllic childhood, stayed close to his siblings and made lifelong friends. He graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in Lawson, Kentucky, then married Donna Bell Yager. They started their adventure together on February 8, 1953. His first job was with Sears, Roebuck and Co. in Lansing, MI. With four children he transferred with the Kroger Company to Midland, MI in 1968. He later started his career with the Dow Corning Corporation until his retirement in 1992.
He was a Sunday school teacher living his faith quietly. He enjoyed fishing and traveling. He belonged to “SOWERS Servants on Wheels”, doing projects in Alabama, Alaska, Florida, and Virginia. They moved to Davenport, Florida around 2003 and enjoyed many friends in the Citrus Ridge Community and were members of the Citrus Ridge Neighborhood Church. In 2020 they moved to Spring Haven Senior Living of Winter Haven, FL. Foster moved to Memory care in 2023.
He was preceded in death by son Dennis and all his siblings. He is survived by his wife Donna Bell Ouderkirk, Sister-in-Law Donna Jean Ouderkirk, son Robin (Julie) Ouderkirk, daughter Lynda (Randy) Fair, Grandchildren Brent (Jenn) Ouderkirk, Lance (Heather) Ouderkirk, Tyler and Travis Ouderkirk. J.R. (Deann) Smith, Marie (Terry) Woodcock. Many great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
The family thanks the staff of the Memory Care facility at Spring Haven Senior Living as well as the staff at the Good Shepherd Hospice House of Auburndale, FL. Continued thanks go to Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home of Auburndale, FL and Wilson Miller Funeral Home of Midland, MI. A memorial service will take place later.
