Winter Haven- George Darrel Winget, age 76, passed away February 14, 2015 due to Cancer. He was born May 22, 1938 in Cedar Springs, GA. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church where he was an active member of the choir. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Intelligence-Cold War Eastern Europe. He was a retired teacher as well as a retired corrections officer with the Polk County Sheriff’s Department having served 20 years. He received the Marshall Anderson Award from Sheriff Grady Judd, May 5, 2009. He was past president of the Kings Pond Home Owners Association. His hobbies were gardening and teaching at every opportunity.
Mr. Winget is survived by his wife Mildred, daughter Tamara Winget, brothers David Ward Winget and Robert Earl Winget, sister Bobbie Winget Snipes (Charles “Buck”) and grandson Kai Filippucci.
Visitation is Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 10-11 am with funeral services at 11:00 am, both at Faith Baptist Church, Winter Haven, FL.
