Vincent, known as Vinny, Dad, Poppops or Palio to family and friends, was a funny man loved by all who knew him. He had a way with words and perspective that was admired by all who were lucky enough to be in his life or to be casually acquainted with him. He was famous for making homemade pizza and gnocchi, surpassed by none!!! Friends would line up when they knew he was cooking. You were lucky when he shared his kitchen mastery – a true Italian Chef at heart! He always had an endearing and creative nickname for those he loved. Vinny was an avid reader and not much got past his inquisitive mind. There were always great discussions based on his current readings.
Vinny emigrated from Italy to the United States in the late 1950’s and lived in Connecticut. He left behind his parents and a brother and sister who all predeceased him. In 1958 he married our mother, Nellie, and in 1959, they moved us to Florida where they both lived until passing. They lived a very fulfilling life together for 44 years. He loved his “Caterina”, as he lovingly referred to her.
Vinny was an electrician by profession and worked for many decades with his stepson, Rick at Georges Enterprises, a citrus irrigation and frost prevention business.
Vinny was predeceased by his wife, Nellie Georges Pallucci, as well as his stepson, Richard P. Georges (Rick), and his grandson, P. Richard Georges (Ricky).
He is survived by his son, Vincent DiViesti, wife Klaire as well as his stepdaughters, Virginia Greenblott and her husband Arthur, Carol-Ann Georges, Joan G. Lenes (Chickie) and her husband Helmut. He also leaves his close and very special friends, Mary and Nora McCarthy.
He was a very special Poppops to his grandchildren Natalie DiViesti and Nicholas DiViesti, Johnny Georges, wife Natalie, Kara Greenblott, husband Chris, Kevin Greenblott, wife Trese, Lisa Greenblott, Brian Greenblott, wife Jodi, Sarah Lenes, Peter Lenes, wife Alexandra.
