Earl Haygood

Mr. Haygood was born to the late Ted and Helen Helinski in Augusta, GA. He is a 1960 graduate of Richmond Academy. Mr. Haygood and his wife were faithful members of Lumpkin Road Baptist Church where he served over 40 years. He was a firm believer in putting God first above all, as he knew the importance of his relationship with his Lord and Savior. Mr. Haygood served in the United States Navy and retired from Georgia Railroad. His passions were cooking, gardening, being outdoors and time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Haygood is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Billie Haygood; children, Terry Haygood, Steve Haygood (Dawn) and Cain Haygood (Angela); siblings, Donnie Helinski, Kris Helinski (Wendy) and Yvonne Taylor (Buddy); grandchildren, Trevor, Devin, Emma and Rowan Haygood.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Thursday, July 31, 2025 at the Lumpkin Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Joshua Todd officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers who will honor Mr. Haygood will be the Ambassadors Sunday School Class.
