Earl LaFontaine

Earl James LaFontaine, Sr., 93, of Hephzibah and widower of Betty Jane LaFontaine, passed away at his residence on June 11th. He was born on August 24, 1927 in Bay St. Louis, MS, son of James and Frances Nelson LaFontaine. Mr. LaFontaine volunteered for the Navy during World War II and served in the Army for the Korean conflict. He was stationed at Camp Gordon where he met his beloved wife of 63 years, Betty Jane Beasley. He retired from DuPont with 35 years of service. Earl is predeceased by beloved wife, Betty; son, Earl James LaFontaine, Jr.; parents, James and Frances; siblings, Pete LaFontaine, Shirley Schmidt and Robert LaFontaine. He is survived by 5 sons, Rory LaFontaine (Jill), Michael LaFontaine (Mona), Kerry LaFontaine (Karen), David LaFontaine, and Richard LaFontaine (Kathleen); 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and brother, Danny LaFontaine. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, June 15, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Lumpkin Road, Augusta. Pall bearers for the service are Robert LaFontaine, Wade LaFontaine, Joshua LaFontaine, Jeremy LaFontaine, David LaFontaine II, Chase LaFontaine, Ethan LaFontaine, Nicholas LaFontaine, and Andrew LaFontaine. Burial will be held at Westover Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, Monday, June 14 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road, Augusta.

I am sorry for your family's loss. I had the pleasure of working with Earl at the SRS, P Reactor, on A-Shift. Also enjoyed playing golf at Green Meadows a number of times with him and Joe Brown.
