Eddie Ray Pardue, 65, entered into rest on February 20, 2026. Born August 15, 1960, Eddie was formerly of Edgefield, SC and was a resident of Augusta, Georgia. He will be remembered as a devoted, intelligent, one of a kind man whose presence felt steady, familiar, and deeply personal to those who loved him. From the way he listened to the way he showed up, Eddie made the people around him feel seen and cared for—and that was one of his greatest gifts.
After this, “Eddie” was simply Eddie, just as he always was to his family and friends: genuine, thoughtful, and never trying to be anything other than himself. He attended Strom Thurmond High School, a milestone he carried with quiet pride and the kind of practical confidence that would define so much of his life.
Eddie found joy in figuring things out and working with his hands. He loved working on cars, and in more recent years took to flying radio controlled airplanes and drones—drawn to the precision, the learning, and the simple satisfaction of watching something take flight after patience and care. At home, he loved his cats and was often called the “cat whisperer,” a title that fit him perfectly: gentle, attentive, and instinctively kind. Music was another constant for Eddie, a true passion that covered jazz, blues, rock, and more—whatever matched the moment, or helped carry it.
Eddie will be remembered for the love he had for his family, for his willingness to help others—especially the underdogs and animals—and for the way he taught and shared what he knew with the younger generation. He had a way of showing someone how to do something without making them feel small, and of offering help without asking for credit. That is a rare kind of character, and it is part of what made him one of a kind.
Eddie is survived by his devoted wife, Susan Moody Pardue; his children, Christopher R. Pardue (Ricki), Eric C. Pardue, Clay Culpepper (Amber), and Jennifer Parker (Frank); and his Bonus Son, Riley Damron. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Rylie Mitchell, Aerilee Pardue, Attalyn Pardue, Wesson Pardue, Caleb Herndon, Sarah Reese, Isla Culpepper, Knox Culpepper, Lily Culpepper, Chayson Hartless; and his great grandchild, Sonny Herndon.
Eddie’s legacy lives in the family he loved, the knowledge he passed along, the animals he cared for, and the countless quiet ways he helped others along the way. He will be deeply missed, tenderly remembered, and forever held close by those who knew him best.
A memorial service will be held to Honor Eddie’s life at 12pm, Monday March 16 at Canaan Baptist Church, 2005 Windsor Spring Road, Augusta, GA 30906 with Pastor Mike Andrews officiating. The family will greet visitors at the meal immediately following the service in the fellowship hall.
