Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at Elliott Sons-Lumpkin Road Chapel with Rev. Dr. Cletus Lynch officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Military honors will be accorded by the Ceremonial Detachment of Fort Gordon.
Mr. Whitaker served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of Crestview Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and was in the Benfield Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his son Michael O. (Judy) Whitaker; daughter Robin Whitaker Davis; sister Annette Aldridge; sister-in-law Margaret Benson; two grandchildren John Michael Sikes and Katelyn Nauman; four great-grandchildren Bradley, Tyler, Charley and Karson. He was preceded in death by sisters Janie Harrison and Faye Percival.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6-8PM at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road, Augusta.
