Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Friend

Madge Welch, lovingly known as “Mama Madge,” passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025. A woman of deep faith, enduring strength, and boundless love, she leaves behind a legacy of devotion to both her family and her community.

Madge dedicated over 55 years to her work as a hairdresser, where her chair was more than just a place for beauty—it was a space for comfort, conversation, and care. She also worked for many years in real estate, helping others find their place to call home.

A devoted follower of Christ, Madge sang in the church choir and lived each day guided by her strong faith. She loved the Lord wholeheartedly, and her spiritual strength was a source of inspiration to all who knew her. She was also a faithful Fox News viewer and never shied away from a good, honest conversation.

Madge was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold Welch, and her parents, Edward and Audrey Davis. She is survived by her children Heyward Fulghum (Teresa), Anthony Welch (Debbie), and Penny Sellers; her grandchildren Sara Beth, Lee, Lauren, Tony, Blake, Jordan, and Leslie Kate; twelve great-grandchildren; and a host of friends who will miss her dearly.

Funeral services for Mama Madge will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road, Augusta, GA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 1350 Church Street, Avera, GA 30803.

Madge Welch will be remembered for her unwavering love, her strength of spirit, and her life of faith. Her presence was a blessing, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
