It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear daughter Naya Raelane Gleason on December 24, 2024. In her body she bore the effects of man’s fall into sin, and finally entered heavenly glory according to God’s perfect timing at 7:25 a.m. on Christmas Eve Day at the age of 26. Born on July 2, 1998, in our basement apartment in Richmond Hill, ON, Canada, Naya has been a blessing to our family.
Naya had a difficult life because of physical and mental disabilities. But she always bore up under her affliction with a calm, cheerful, and peaceful disposition. In her death she is delivered from all these afflictions and we, with her, await her final renewal of the body. We rejoice that her soul is now perfect in holiness and has passed into glory. Though her body will rest in the grave until the resurrection we are comforted by the promise that she is truly united to Christ even now and safely in the presence of her Savior. We praise God for the years He gave us to care for her and enjoy her.
1 Thessalonians 4:14: “For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.”
Naya is preceded in death by her grandfather, Marinus Zegers. She is survived by grandparents Ron and Sally Gleason and grandmother Pieternel Zegers, her parents Geoff and Lisa Gleason, and her 10 siblings, 3 siblings in-law, and 1 future sibling in-law (Rachel & Josh [Lamb], Laken & Izak [Vanderee], Sawyer & Grey [Hill], Noel & fiancée Tenley [Hanhardt], Marin, Emma, Charlotte, Harris, Elise, and Calvin), and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
The funeral service will be held at Cliffwood Presbyterian Church at 2525 Lumpkin Road, Augusta, GA on Friday, December 27, 2024 at 1pm. All friends and family are welcome and appreciated. A private graveside service will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Cliffwood Presbyterian Church’s Naya Gleason Memorial Fund.
