

Ray proudly served his country in the United States Army, where his service allowed him to travel the world. He especially cherished his time in Berlin, Germany; Singapore; and Thailand three of his favorite destinations.
An avid gardener, Ray found great joy each year in nurturing his flowers and vegetables. He was known for his impeccable sense of style and his love for good company. Ray enjoyed meeting and connecting with people from all walks of life, and he was always eager to learn something new especially when it came to the latest iPhones and technology.
He had a sharp wit and a wonderful sense of humor, and his appreciation for music spanned many genres.
Ray was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Ursula Jessie, who passed away in 2006.
He is survived by his devoted daughter, Barbara Jessie-Black, and his loving companion, Brenda Singletary, with whom he spent the remainder of his days.
In the last year of his life, Ray devoted himself entirely to caring for his child during a time of serious illness a true testament to the depth of his love and character.
Ray will be remembered for his kindness, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family. His presence will be deeply missed, but his love and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
An inurnment for Raymond will be held Friday, October 10, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Georgia Veteran Memorial Cemetery, 2617 Vinson Highway, Milledgeville, GA. A celebration of life will occur Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 4255 Columbia Road, Martinez, Georgia 30907.
