

Regina Leanne Sims passed away early in the morning on April 9, 2022, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Gina was born in Augusta, GA, on Augusta 13, 1970, seven minutes after her identical twin sister Becky. Gina was predeceased by her parents, Bobby and Sylvia Sims.
Gina leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Joseph Lane Grubbs and his siblings, Meg Grubbs and Cody Grubbs; her twin sister, Becky (Forrest) Edwards; a brother, Michael Sims; nieces, Heather (Lee) Anderson, Holly Kay(Brandon) Edwards, Amanda Sims and Bobbie Lynn Sims; 3 great nephews, Lee Anderson, Tyler Rushing and Kevin Drake, Jr.; her Godmother, Sharon Yoho; Godsister, Aletha (Eric) Snowberger; aunts, Betty Ann Daniels, Linda (Dennis) Millans, Diedra Sims; many close cousins, 2nd and 3rd cousins and several close friends, Rebekka Cook, Gabriella Epperly, Gindy Womack, Lisa Cabe, Dana Rhodes (the 3rd twin) and Whitney Street.
Gina was a graduate of Hephzibah High School, Class of 1988. Her career started at Richmond Ambulance. She worked her entire life in the ambulance industry or in medical coding/billing, most recently for AU Medical Center. Gina was a host home provider for Serenity Behavioral Health. Gina was an avid reader, loved rock n roll and country music (especially live concerts), the color purple and getting together with family and friends as often as she could. She was the official family and friend photographer. She loved the beach and her 3 dogs, Brandy, Bentley and Toby.
Gina fought cancer with a fierce and determined spirit through many rigorous treatments and debilitating pain. She tried her best to stay strong for her son Joseph as long as her body would allow.
A very special thank-you from her family to Dr. William Goss, Dr. John Barrett, the 5th floor AU nurses and staff, the AU Cancer Center Staff, and her own personal nurse and best friend, Suzanne Bedichek.
A time of visitation will be held from 10:00am until 11:00am on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road, Augusta. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am, following the visitation in the chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home, conducted by Pastor Ronnie Faircloth. Friends invited.
