

Gainesville, GA -- Thelma Inez (McDaniel) Jobe, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She was born in Kennedy, Alabama, and lived in Arkansas before settling in Augusta, Georgia for most of her adult life. Thelma was the daughter of the late Homer and Lona McDaniel and one of seven siblings.
Thelma was a devoted wife and homemaker to the late James Jobe for 69 blessed years and a gracious and loving mother to her five children. Her gentle spirit and patience, along with her mastery in the kitchen, brought warmth and joy to all who knew her. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They could always be assured of kind words of affirmation delivered with a loving smile along with some of their favorite sweets. She was continually mindful of God’s goodness and faithfulness in her life and to her family, and found great joy and pride in them.
Thelma enjoyed work where she could share close friendships and relationships. While raising her family, she sold Avon out of the home and later retired from the Richmond County School system having served in the kitchen at Rollins Elementary. She also enjoyed working in food preparation at the Masters Golf Tournament each year.
She was a faithful member of Fleming Baptist Church and her ladies Ruth Bible Class where she enjoyed many special friendships and opportunities to serve others.
She always maintained close contact with all of her siblings, and enjoyed special times traveling with her sisters and their husbands during James’ and her retirement years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Bernice Connolley and Edileen Milam, brother Billy McDaniel, daughter Jamie Jobe, and granddaughter Ashley Weeks.
Survivors include brothers George “GW” (Bernice) McDaniel, Robert McDaniel and Clyde (Lillie Mae) McDaniel; daughters Rosemary (Buddy) Weeks and Rita (Tom) Cole; sons Mike (Denise) Jobe and Ron (Janet) Jobe; grandchildren Greg Weeks, Jennifer (Jason) Day, Matthew Cole, Jonathan (Emily) Jobe, Rachel Jobe Reese, Elizabeth Jobe; great grandchildren Andrew and Lauren Martin and Miles Reese; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1-2pm Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home on Lumpkin Road. Funeral services will follow at 2pm in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to a favorite charity.
