Elida was born on February 11, 1948 in Crystal City, Texas to José and Eudelia Arredondo. In 1950, her family moved to Pompeys Pillar, Montana and then on to Billings, Montana where she lived before retiring and moving to Colorado to be closer to her children. She married Joseph (Joe) Christian in Aurora, Colorado in January, 2016.
Attending Sunday and midweek church services at Lighthouse Baptist Church, Denver, Colorado was very important to Elida. She was a member of the monthly Women of the Word (WOW). She really enjoyed visiting with friends over lunch and at church.
Elida loved to read and be well-informed; she would read her Bible, Danielle Steel books, books about the Holocaust, breaking news on her phone, and the newspaper that she still had delivered to her home. She enjoyed listening to narrated readings of the Bible, Christian music, and Christmas music.
As a nature-lover, Colorado seemed to suit her; she loved to watch squirrels scamper around and the birds in her backyard. And, she loved flowers and tending to them. Going to the movies with her daughter and grandchildren and sending gifts to her great-grandchildren in Billings were special activities she also enjoyed.
A faithful servant of God, Elida will be remembered for her determination, her sense of humor, and the smile she always seemed to have on her face no matter the circumstance. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Joe; 2 children, Robert (Alicia) and Angela; 3 stepchildren, Candace, Gina, and Heather; 5 grandchildren, Caleb, Alex, Aaron, Jaiden, and Darien; 2 great grandchildren, Aliyah and Zane; “self-adopted” daughter Michele (Ben) and 2 grandsons, Keegan and Kohen; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Elida is survived by 3 brothers, Joe, Luis, and Tony Arredondo, in Billings; and by her sister, Evangelina, in Oxnard, California. Elida joins her parents, her sisters Esperanza (Mary), Ofelia, and Magdalena, and her first husband, Robert Gary Cattnach.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 9-10am, followed by a funeral service at 10am and a reception at 11am, all at Advantage Aurora Chase Chapel in Aurora, CO.
