Mother Ivy was born in Denver, Colorado to Peolia and Isaac McQuiller. She was the eldest of four siblings: James L. Perry, Jr., Marian Perry, Charles Perry and Sidney Perry. In addition to her parents and siblings who passed before her, Ivy's beloved stepfather James L. Perry, Sr. will also greet her in heaven.
Ivy graduated from West High School in Denver and moved to Portland during WW II. Sister Ivy was baptized in Jesus Name and filled with the Holy Spirit. She began teaching and singing. She formed a group called the Ivyettes. Later, Ivy trained at several hospitals and became a License Practical Nurse (LPN). She retired from Kaiser Permanente in Portland, Oregon after many years of service.
On Monday, September 4, 2023, Mother Ivy Blair celebrated her 100th Birthday. She was pleased with the blessing showered upon her.
She loved to sing solos, and had keen sense of humor; Ivy was a quiet, loving, and forgiving person. She is the proud mother of four children: Marcia Taylor, Portland, OR, Willie Mae (Richard) Simon, Denver, CO, Carol Jean Carter, Portland, OR and Michael (Phyllis) Whitmore Sr., Baxley, GA.
She was appreciative of Willie Mae and Richard (R.C.) who cared for her for 21 years. Richard loved his mother in-law, she in turned worshipped the ground he walked on.
Mother Blair was delighted to have her granddaughter, Felecia Shepherd, who graduated from Howard University with several degrees, become her Conservator.
She leaves to mourn and celebrate her life beyond her children, a host of grand, great grandchildren; a many of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Mother Ivy Blair will be sincerely missed.
