

Jack was born on May 23rd, 1926 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Gerrit and Jane (Rotman) Grootenhaar. Jack was a veteran of World War II and served in the Air Force. On January 6, 1960, he married the former Beverly Swanson in Grant, Michigan. Jack was a Jack-of-Many-Trades. He started his career with Lear Siegler as a manufacturing engineer, then ventured into landscape maintenance, trucking, carpet installation, and salesman. He retired from his positon with Storage Technology in 1993 as a Process Engineer. After his retirement, Jack and Bev traveled the country in a MCI bus conversion and spent their winters in Tucson Arizona as part of a Wycliff Bible Translators missionary support group where Jack worked on vehicles and did building maintenance.
Jack is survived by his wife Beverly; his sister Fannie Evenhouse ; his daughters Debbie Maruna and her husband Dean, Christi Charmichael and Diane Grootenhaar. He is also survived by his grandchildren Melissa and Danielle Maruna, Christopher and Jeremy Buckrucker and Jeremey’s wife Myra , Jonathan Schafsmaa, Ashley Meyer and her husband Mark and Jamie Charmichael as well as his by his great-grandchildren Shay Maruna and Israel and Denise Buckrucker. Jack is survived also by extended family too numerous to mention. Jack is preceded in death by his daughter Carrie Buckrucker, by his parents Gerritt and Jane Grootenhaar and by his brothers Gary and David, and sisters Mary and Jean.
