Janet Louise Lane, 72, of Aurora, Colorado died November 25, 2022, surrounded by loved ones after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born July 12, 1950, in Aurora, Colorado to Wallace and Ruby Trout. She was the third of four children. Janet grew up in Colorado and attended Hinkley High School where she graduated in 1968; she was involved with Pep Dance at Hinkley. After high school Janet attended Community College of Aurora where she received her Certification in Early Childhood Education which she later used to be a Preschool Teacher.
While in college she met her husband Ronald Lane, they were later married in 1974 in her parents’ backyard surrounded by friends and family. They settled down and welcomed two daughters: Melissa (1976) and Rebecca (1984,) she took pride and joy in her role as a stay-at-home wife and mother. Janet was incredibly involved with her daughters during school. While raising her family, Janet was well known and liked among her community.
Janet will be remembered for her witty personality, incredible love, and skill for sewing, devotion to her family and friends, generous heart, very projected voice despite her small size, contagious smile and laugh, love of Pepsi, dedication/love for the Denver Broncos and most of all her generous heart.
She loved creating items for her family whether it be a pair of fluffy pajama pants, or a warm batch of her famous chocolate chip cookies which always went best with a huge glass of cold milk. She would guarantee you never left her house empty handed, hungry or without one of her big hugs, no matter how long you knew her you always got a hug to warm your heart. Janet was well traveled, despite not having a driver’s license in her 72 years of life. From summer trips to Lake McConaughy and Manitou Springs to the islands of Hawaii she did it all and loved every moment. During those adventures she was always accompanied by her family, especially her husband Ronald or as she would call him, Ronnie. During their 48 years of marriage, he would attest that she was the love of his life, marrying her was the best thing he ever did in life and that they shared many laughs and tears together. He was with her no matter what and in her final months you could find him sitting in his rocking chair next to her making sure she had anything she needed. Janet was always positive during her sickness and always reminded us that life is short and to live it no matter how tough it can get.
Janet is survived by her beloved husband Ronald Lane; loving daughters: Melissa Lane and Rebecca (Daren) Walters; grandchildren: Alyssa (David) Armstrong, Brandie (Patrick) Schnell, Patrick Broda, Dezaray, Jordan Walters; great grandchildren: Hunter, Rosalie, Logan Armstrong, and Baby W.
