Janette Marie Barney

Janette Marie Barney, born March 10, 1951, mother of two passed away on October 6th, 2022 due to natural causes in her home. Janette was born in Longmont, CO to William J and Hilda A Frick. Janette was a farm and ranch girl from the start. She has always had a love for animals, especially horses. Growing up she could always be found riding horses on the family farm. Over the years she passed that passion on to her sons, Gerald and David, as well as to her nieces and nephews. Janette spent many years as a leader of the local 4-H club, Riders of the Kiowa, teaching anyone who wanted learn about riding.

Janette met her husband, Gerald L Barney, while in high school at Byers, CO. They married on February 18, 1968. They lived on Gerald’s family farm south of Byers where they raised their two sons, Gerald and David. Janette worked many years in local grocery store businesses. She spent time working for her brother-in-law, Dan Weller and sister Dianna Weller’s stores in Strasburg, Byers and Limon, CO. After working in Aurora for a stint she started working at the Sinclair in Byers, the Corner Gas in Deer Trail and then King Soopers in Bennett until she retired.

Janette enjoyed her quiet time in her home in the country! Janette is proceeded in death by her husband Gerald L. Barney, her father William J Frick, her mother Hilda Ann Frick, her sister Patricia Lane, her brother Bill Frick and niece Denise Amy Weller. She is survived by her son Gerald J Barney, her son David W Barney, daughter in law Mary L Barney, her grandsons Dalton Barney, Ross Barney, Reed Barney, MacGuire Barney, Luke Barney, her sister Dianna Weller, her brother Donnie Frick, along with many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service is planned for November 5th at the Byers American Legion Hall at 11:00 am in Byers CO.
